seat cleaning

Featured Replies

After spending the afternoon cleaning four weeks of crap off the car and touching up stone chips i attempted to clean the seats in the car with the autoglym seat cleaner spray. currently the seats are still damp but what im need to know what is the best stuff to remove make up stains from the passenger seat and the fabric on the door (grrrr swmbo) i wont know till it dries how well autoglym has worked just wondering if anyone else has had this problem or know of something that will work if autoglym fails.

I've found 1001 carpet and upholstery cleaner to be great stuff. I used it all the time when I had my MK1 Octy VRS for the light grey carpets and seat inserts.

Just make sure that it you do use a spot cleaner to do the whole area to prevent water marks whn it dries.

i found 1001 was alright till a few weeks then grey water like stains would appear. i think my next car will be a one seater as i make less mess in it in a week than swmbo and minitext make in one 10 mile trip.

If you know anyone who has a vax or similar these work very well and don't leave water staining. You can do the whole seat at the same time.

Education is key to keep the car tidy.

Some of the peeps I work with use the passenger side footwell area as a mini-skip, at least that is what it looks like.

I tend to have a spare plastic carrier bag in the car mostly, and whenever I go to site and buy any food, I will eat in the car but get shot of the rubbish daily, or at the very worst, after the trip :)

vax is your best bet cleans up seats a treat.

well it doesnt look to bad today, quite impressed, but a few marks where wet/dry meet but will sort that on a quick clean another week.

If you haven't got a wet /dry cleaner a Henry unit makes an excellent alternative! As long as you remove the paper filter (of course) & don't absolutely drench the seats in fabric cleaner it is more than capable of sucking up all the dirt & water in a 5 seater car!

I use Autoglym super interior cleaner & have had no problems with it leaving any marks or sticky residue that some cleaners leave, it also deodorizes the fabric too!

If you were going to do that then why not pay a bit more for the george that is designed for wet/drying

I have got a Mytee hot water extraction carpet & upholstery cleaning machine that cost £1700 which i use most of the time, i have also got a Numatic wet/dry machine as well as Henry's etc... Comment was made because a lot of people have a Henry vacuum cleaner so it's a lot cheaper than going out & buying something you may only use now & then, than use something a lot of people have already got?

Been valeting/detailing for over 5 yrs now & the Henry's work really well not just for vacuuming but upholstery too!!!!
