new member with a big grin

Evenin all,

For the last 6 months Ive been planning to get a new car, and ended up with a list ranging from the Alfa Romeo 156 to the Fiat Stilo Abarth and MG ZS / ZT.. I accidentally ended up in a Skoda garage 5 miles from home and now I have a permanent grin ;D

Im the proud owner of a glorious red 2003 Octy vrs that was far too fast and far too good looking to let anyone else buy ;p

Thanks to all the many posters whose threads I read here after seeing the car. I spent a week reading up opinions, road-tests (havent found a single bad one, and I cant say that about any of the other cars I was looking at), and general chat.

Walking towards my new car I grin like a kid, sitting in my car I grin like a kid, and driving my car I laugh like a mad professor with his latest creation - Im ALIIIIIIIIVE!!!

now if I can only keep my licence clean.....

Hello there, and welcome from another new Octavia VRS owner. Well, actually I haven't picked mine up yet, as it's having cambelt and bits done. Out of interest, how much did you pay? I'd be interested to know, as mine is an 03 too, on 52k miles, and I paid £5495. A bit more than I intended, but I'm getting a few bits thrown in with the price. Hope it's as enjoyable to drive as yours seems to be!

I paid £4995, which was more than I planned to spend. Its done 53k, has shaded windows all round, a K&N filter, and a Milltek sports exhaust. I didnt realise about the exhaust until after Id sealed the deal, a bit slack of me really to not check that, but nevermind.

I have no idea what power gain those might have given me, as I traded in a 98bhp 4x4 so 180/190/200bhp would all feel like mach1 to me after that.

Seems like a heck of a lot of car for the money.. the women at work weren't impressed until I popped the boot and they seemed to think 'cor I could fit SO many shoes and handbags in there' ;D

Good luck with yours mate, if you are half as happy as me you'll be going to bed early every night so you can get up sooner and get back in it.

Hello and welcome.

Hello :)

welcome

Welcome!

Congratulations on your vRS purchase :)

I got mine this time last year and it's still going strong, no major problems, has now done over 107k miles!

Hiya. I could be everso rude about your cited alternatives!! ;)

A Milltek and filter won't give you much other than some extra noise by themselves, but a good custom remap with them would pay dividends.

welcome to briskoda
