Why is the accelerator set lower than the brake and clutch?

ie. from side view the clutch and brake pedals are inline but the accelerator is set back about an inch.

Seems it just adds time onto your braking having to move your foot a couple of inches back from the accelerator before you can move it across to brake.

Common on a lot of cars I'm afraid, and it makes heel-toe driving difficult. It's basically an issue of comfort. Drivers prefer their right foot have the heel on the floor while using the accelerator, if the pedal was higher, it would put a strain on the ankle.

It is not unknown for a few people to miss the brake pedal and hit the gas in an emergency stop.

You have to be careful, as pedal mods can be an MOT fail. The metal pedal plates such as Ripspeed etc are not road legal.

Can't talk for your car, but I went from a 1.4 petrol Fabia to a vRS and it took my ankles a while to get used to the new pedal positions as, in my car at least, the gap is quite deep, notably deeper than my petrol Fabia.

I guess you'll get used to it like I did
