New Megane 24 hr testdrive

Featured Replies

I've seen the ads for this and I think it is probably the best looking car in it's class and so siged up to have one on test for 24 hrs. Anyone else taken this up or had a drive in one. Does the driving experience match the ( to my taste) brilliant looks?

I have always had a soft spot for French cars (my Peugeot 106 was faultless) but my dad always used to run Renaults back in the 80s and they were horrific. Would you buy one of these?:)

Make sure you top the tank up to the brim and keep the receipt as a few guys on Meganesport have had 24hr test drives in new Meganes, topped the tank up and then had invoices for £30-40 from Renault in fuel charges. Cheeky to say the least!

In summary, the new Megane is taking many pointers from its Nissan stablemate in quality, fit and finish but in terms of dealerships and customer service they're a long long way behind most (even though my experience of VAG dealerships isn't much better!).

My last three cars have been Renaultsports and l've had no issue with any of them.............but then l go to a specialist independant and would never return to the dealerships. Mind you l'm probably a more maintenance focused, sympathetic owner than most!

Myself and Wardy were looking round the New Megane and Laguna Coupe the other day and were genuinely suprised at the level of build quality and germanic interior fit and finish. I was also amazed to find out that the dealers were willing to knock £5k off the price of the Laguna Coupe straight from the off, before any haggling.

As l've always said though, it'll make agood 10 month old second hand purchase but l'd never buy one new.

Must say the new Megane 3 door jobbie (sport hatch or is it a coupe?) looks rather nice,

French car's seem to be on the way up for me as the Citreon C8 (both saloon and Estate) keep catching my eye as well !

I quite like the look of the new megane but i still wont have one because of the keycard thing, didnt like it when i had the megane II as a courtesy car a couple times while i had a 99 megane...

Agree. Keycard is a ridiculous idea. It works well on the models with keyless entry/start (as it just stays in your wallet) but is un-necessarily large otherwise.

Had a Megane 2 years ago - lasted 9 months - back to dealers 10 times & gave up in the end, cut my losses & moved on. Hope reliability has improved. I wouldn't touch with a proverbial barge pole.

The coupe simply looks like an Astra.

The normal megane is much improved now they've stuck the rear on a diet.

Does it? I'd say it looks very un Astra like

Ignore the silver panels, and look at the lines. Same window shape. similar front end and side profiles.

can you test drive the magane r26.r??? really would like ago :D

Sadly not just the new car! My brother in law signed up for a go and got a 1.6 16v hatch. Must admit it looked pretty good in black though conidering it was the base model.
