Will You Sell Me Your Tyres ??!!?? Listen To This

Featured Replies

Did you ever hear the likes of this..

I was filling up at the docks in Sligo this morning and a young lad in a Beamer pulled up beside me and asked me would i sell him my tyres !!

Vredenstein Ultrac Sessanta's..:confused:. I started laughing and he wasn't laughing back, so i asked him was he serious.

Apparently, there is a shortage of this tyre from Holland and there is an 8% increase in the price. He was saying that he "loves" the look of them. I told him i only had them on for 2000 Miles, so he said he'd give me what i paid for them...

He gave me a €200 deposit there and then, so that if i was to buy new tyres he wouldn't go back on his word

I'm in the middle of buying a new set of F1 assymetrics from Camskill . And when i get them fitted he is going to pay me for my "old" set..

CRAZY or what !!

Brilliant... Win win for you and if not... 200 euros in your back pocket as you're changing tyres anyway... very random though!

Have you still got your watch?

.... but doesn't it make you question the wisdom of switching away from Ultrac Sessantas?

Would you really offer someone cash in a petrol station because you love the look of a tyre?! Surely performance is higher up a tyre wish list than the way they look?!

very random indeed!

Sound in theory; but scuppered as their performance is as good, if not better, than their looks! :D

Have you checked any independent sources to see if there really is a shortage of these tyres and a resultant price increase?

I know you have (still?) 200 notes in your pocket, but I work off the old adage: 'If an offer sounds too good to be true .. it probably is!'

Sorry to be cynical, but I smell a scam - though I must say I can't see how it's going to work.

Sounds to much like a hassle having to get new tyres to me!

Just make sure that you actually get the remainder of the money as cash (check for forgeries etc) and prefereably dont go alone

Random is not the word for it.

Only for i'm 200 yoyo better off at the minute i'd be questioning the lads sanity.

He seems a genuine sort of fella.

I also agree with Bahnstormer. why give up my tyres. But he kinda caught me on the hop. And i agreed.

If theres anyne from Leitrim on here look out for a silver "LM" 320d

From what he was telling me he is from the Carraig-on-shannon area

Put yourself in his shoes? Why would you do it? I'd never buy second hand rubber (ok, I never had any reason to) much less want to pay brand new price for a tire that already has been on and off a set of rims.

Vredestein are VERY difficult to get up here in N. Ireland. I wouldn't be surprised at his offer.

I wish someone would give me mnoey for my tyres, get rid of the bloody things (Goodyear NCT5!)

Yeah, the fella at camskill reckoned there is a huge shortage of them.

While i do like them myself, im gona swap them for the crack.

Nothin like a bit of randomness on a Friday morning.

It's one for the pub tonight !!!

Use your 200 euro's and get a ferry over to Scotland. I have no problem getting Vredestein tyres here. As a matter of fact the Eastern Scottish rep stays just down the road from me and I have never had to wait more than 24hours for my tyres. I agree that there have been a couple of price increases and the prices are now creeping up to similar prices to the "premium" brands.

We have used Vredesteins for several years now with no problems. Glad to see that they do so well in Auto express tests.

I had the Eagle F1-A on my Astra, along with the older Ultrac. The F1-A wore quick, but had marginally better grip than the Ultrac.

Personally I'd go for the Ultrac before the F1-A.

Will i keep the rubber and give back his €100 then :rofl:

Personally I would keep what you've got and give him his €75 back... :)

thats not something you expect to hear when you fill your car up. i would tell him to meet you at the tyre garage and get him to pay the money for the tyres upfront direct to them, then at least if the money is dodgy your not the one handling it.

if hes happy to do that id probably accept his offer

no problem getting ultrac sessantas 225/40/18 - rang yesterday, they had them today and have just been fitted - co. antrim - modern tyre services - fitter checked and they have 22 in stock in their central depot at the moment
