Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

I want to purchase a Vag com. I purchased one on ebay that didnt work. Point me in the right direction please

Thanks

Did you install it correctly?

There are quite a few claims of faulty cables but a lot of the time they just aren't installed correctly.

the bit that caught me out for a while was getting VAG COM to work with the cable, then I realised it needed to be plugged into the car to work (when the led came on giving the port a nice blue colour I felt a right numpty!)

I have 2 cables purchased from ebay. One is a serial cable, which worked fine (also works with Serial -> USB adapter), and a USB one too. I run an older version of vagcom would (303.1, iirc)

Thanks for the info. I have however seen a hand held scaanner on the web that I am thinking of buying. Can anyone tell me how good it is and would it help me reduce the main dealers profits (see attachment)

I'd have another go at getting the cable to work before spending out on a handheld. If you are using Vag Com on a laptop it is so much easier to get the information to the forums when you need advice. If you need help setting the cable up PM me, I have tools to allow secure remote access as well.
