Fault code 16407

Featured Replies

My wife's 2003MY Polo 9N with a BBY engine logs this code - normally at hot restart in cool weather - always in January or February so far - ie once in 2007, three times in 2008 and so far once in 2009. The VCDS description for this code is Bank 2: Camshaft B (Exhaust) : Position Actuator Malfunction P0023 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent. I thought that this 16 valve engine did not have any camshaft positional sensor - so why does it come up with this code?

I am pretty sure thats a software fault. Try your dealer for a reflash with the newest software

Thanks for that, I'll try that at the next MOT time, it seems crazy that historical, it has only chucked out that fault during January or February each of the past three years - and it was not proper winter cold when it happened this year - coincidence or bizarre!

The really painfull thing is because I personally imported it (factory order to UK spec from NL VW dealer), I think that I'll get the usual crap "because its an import its made using different parts - blah blah blah" so I would not be surprised if they tried to hit me for a new "UK supplied" module as I will have a foreign one fitted!!
