fabia vrs spanner light?

Featured Replies

hey all, as of last night the spanner/service symbol in the milometer came on, now i know this means it needs a service but its not due one for another 3k miles, it also flashes "oil" when first starting up, does this mean it just needs oil? if so what oil is best for fab vrs'? or does it even need servicing?

If its been a year since your last service, regardless of miles, the light will come on. Also If its driven hard or devlelopes a problem then the service light will come on earlyer than expected, having low oil shouldn't put anything other than the oil warning light on, but i would top it up anyway.

In my opinion go for the most expensice oil you can afford, although it doesn't need to be fully synthetic. Quite like the idea of getting the stuff thats magnetically charged for my next change.

wont be a year until july time! i wouldnt say i drive it hard, the odd time i give it a boot but mostly is general driving

Might be a result of the oil then, top it up snd see if it goes away. But im pretty sure you can only switch the spanner light out by getting it plugged in to a computer. It may have developed a totally different fault and just needs a service earlyer than usual.

When it gets plugged in, you can check to see if it has any fault codes that might of put the service light on.

Many users on this site have the software and cable for checking these things out. You could try messaging them to save you spending dealer prices.
