Out with the camera today

Featured Replies

As I have just today completed a full spring clean on my Estelle 105L (wash, wax and glass) I decided to take some photos to share with you.

For those interested in the equipment used it was a Nikon Pronea S camera (APS film) with the new 50mm 1.4 AF-S lens.

Thank you for the compliments - made the arm ache worthwhile for sure:thumbup:.

The more I use my Estelles, the more I feel they are one of the best cars to own. Long may they keep running!

Whoooaaa !! Superb condition ! Very nice example :) My father used to have the same in Poland years ago (anyway that car like others Skoda`s were very popular in central-east Europe )

Looking good mate. But is that a bit of a ding on the bottom of the n/s front wing

You know what Rigsby, I have never noted that in 14 years of ownership but I did for the first time when I looked at that photo. The light was very direct and that lens is super sharp so now I have seen it. It just needs careful bending I think.

Ive not had one yet that didnt have a bit of a ding in that possition, and a lot of the ones i know do to

Are they the original Uniroyal Rally tyres?

No Rigsby - they are Vreidestein Sprint - a good tyre without the 'modern' tread style spoiling the car. The car did come with the Uniroyals though - they were badly crazed on the sidewalls and so I changed them. I did have a set of Dunlop Aquajets on my Rapid (from the Vintage Tyre Company) - now they were a tyre. They had 'squirt holes' all along the outside to pump water away from the tyre in wet conditions.

i thought they looked just like advertising shots too. just get the light a bit further round on the top pic and it would be exactly the type of shoot they used to use :)

oh yeah, the car: magnificent!

Possibly one of the smartest Skoda's in the UK.

My Rapid is needing a good clean - its getting the time to do it that is the problem...

Thanks for sharing the pics.

Thank you again for the kind comments. The car is a surprise as it is all original paint/metal and I have seen Estelles of younger vintage with terrible rust around the arches and in the seams. I do keep it garaged and I must say thank you again to Dave up at Royston who put me on a brand new cylinder head, springs and valves. After that the car fair shoots up the hills - but before the car drove 'like a 105' - a bit sluggish. A NOS carburettor and PAL Magneton distributor finished the job off. For the suspension I fitted some NOS CZ shock absorbers which removed the slight pitching that affects Estelles with tired shocks.

Looks great! I would like one like that! Need more time & money etc!
