JVC head unit issues

Have an old jvc cassette / cd changer setup in my girlfriends escort. Its been a cracking player for years until she went over a bump on Friday....... now I'm just really confused.

The right hand channel both front and rear are very distorted and only half audible, the left is perfect. This only applies when playing CDs from the unit in the boot, when playing music through the radio or cassette unit all is fine and dandy.

I swapped out the whole unit and put the ford one back in to check that all of the speakers were deffinetly working and rule any further issues with the wireing, everything was fine!

.... thing is this is making me wonder what the problem is! I think i've pretty much worked back to it either being the cd player in the boot, the cable that runs between the two or the head unit itself.

Any ideas? If the headunit was at fault i would expect the same fault to appear on the radio and cassette audio but this is fine - will the cd audio take an alternative circuit route through to the speakers which could be the problem? If not do you think its worth replacing the cable first?

It sounds like a cable has come loose while going over the bump either the connector into the HU or the connector into the changer.

when you took out the JVC did you take out the changer as well or just the HU?

Did you put the JVC back in after making sure the ford unit was OK?

I had the same problem with mine :( In the end I spent £30 on cables (one from the net & one from motorworld) One fixed it for a bit and then it came back - tried another cable and the problem remained. Would be very interested if you get this fixed. Hope you have better luck than me.
