Surging Boost + 17705 - MAP sensor or N75?

Featured Replies

just a quick thought, could a faulty MAP sensor be causing 17705? and is surging Boost definately the N75? if so does anyone have a spare :D for testing! (too much from the Stealers just to get it wrong.)

Possibly, not sure anyone's tried that as a cure, certainly haven't read of anyone doing it.

I would look at the spring in the DV first (Assuming it's not the stock DV), too strong and it will take a little longer to release boost and cause a surge.

what I was trying to figure out is what actually causes the 17705? if it is the difference between the N75 reading and the MAP then it could be missreading?

forge 007p green spring. So assume its not that.

I think the big difference is if you get lucky or not. Many have mapped 1.8T's, some get 17705 some don't. I have been lucky I guess but could so easily not have been.

It's not even like it's a certain map or anything.

People have spent lots of money trying to cure it and most fail. If the cars running fine I would live with it and enjoy driving TBH.

Do a search for that code on here mate, it's a nightmare code and a million and one things it could be!

The 17705 has been there since before the remap. The car always used to feel quick but not boost quick. The remap has only really highlighted the soft limp problem. Its quite strange as when pulling away quickly, I would have thought that if it was over boosting it should cut the boost after 1st gear change? But I can redline it in first and second and it goes really well. the problem occurs after the overun, the next time you plant the loud pedal the boost is limited.

There must be a resource somewhere that explains how all the bits work together to produce the code and limit the boost, then it should be a step by step process till you find the culprit. does anyone have the Skoda or VW service manuals?

I had 17705, with 17545 (I think???), so fitted a new DV but it was still there. Codes would come back every couple of weeks. I fitted a new N75 and haven't seen the codes since and lovely boost again. It doesn't work for everyone but for £30 it's got to be worth a try.
