Aero Wiper query

Featured Replies

do what I did mate.

get a std grill and cut the vents off and put it all back together with the addition of some ripspeed mesh from halfords.

youll need to glue the silver bit bake on and the mesh needs moulding to the shape of the std grill as its not flat.

ill see if I have any pics of mine in bits.

I was under the impression thats what Jonny had already done.

LEX: notice you got the mk4 wipers, do you have ne probs wi the drivers side one? mine leaves a big patch untouched on the return wipe?

No such probs Billy complete coverage and smear free in operation. Only problem I had was when I replaced the blades for non genuine VAG ones can't remember the make but was a top brand and they where crap.

I'm not sure but I would imagine they would be. I remember my aftermarkets now, they where Michelin and they where bloody rubbish. Smooth going up and juddered all the way back down to the rest position :thumbdwn:

Sorry jonnycatbiscuit weve kinda hijacked this thread and made it about wipers

Billy do you have the Mk4 arms as well or just replacemant blades on std arms ???

I have the golf mk4 arms and blades on my Octy - no issues what so ever. Been on there over 2 years and not needed to change the blades yet. it does however look like it is possible to pop the end off and just slide in a new wiper rubber, rather than replacing the whole blade bit.

Juddering.... not a linkage issue is it? Mine used to judder on the way down (standard blades then) before the linkage failed me on a horrible wet day......

Volkswagen sell MK4 aero wipers that fit the standard arm for pre 2003 mk4s that had the same wiper fitment as the Fabia 1 and Octavia 1.

it does however look like it is possible to pop the end off and just slide in a new wiper rubber, .

I tried VW and TPS and neither said there was a re-fill.:(

Although 28% discount in TPS persauded me not too bother hunting any further:D

yea I got some off fleabay

they are good but the blades are about 6 yr old and are a bit hard lol

I got some velon??? blades and the drivers side one goes up ok but comes down and leaves a large area infront of my face totally untouched but with the old ones back on it is ok but jumpes and its annoyin!!

gonna see what sort of money it is for new OEM ones as it is dangerouse drivin wi the ones on now

i assumed I could just slide any old rubber in I fancied..... (wiper rubber, that is!) I normally just get some inserts from part co, or somewhere like that and cut to length. I guess that is what you have found too?

No linkage is fine. Problems started with the very first wipe with the Michelin's and disappeared with their removal.

had a E60 bmw 5 series at work the other day, brand new genuine wipers and juddering on the way down, only with rain water, not when using the washers, cleaned the screen with some bmw glass polish and away went the problem............
