Apr Remap Stage 1 Review 2.0 TFSI VRS

Featured Replies

Well what can i say about this remap:

Torque - the toqure has increase little below 3k rpm, pulls hard without judder at 1.5k rpm. you dont have to do much gear changing all the time around town and on motorway

BHP - well what can i say  above 3k rpm  its very rapid. 1st gear if you plant your foot to the floor it will wheel spin, but when you hit 2nd gear when traction gains o my god. for me the best gears are 2nd, 3rd and 4 th beacuse you still have alot of boost in the gears, feels the car pulling like crazy. but when you hit 5 th and 6 th the bosst is turned down an little, but you still can feel the car pulling hard.

all in all if you drive normaly with an controlled foot the car feels like an normal stock VRS, even above 3k rpm. but when you feel like you want more power, put your foot down little more and BANG lots of power at you disposal.

bring on stage 2 !!!!!

i would like to thank the following people at Awesome GTi:

Sarah - for the booking and for the information that she has provided me (all this happyness could not have been with out her (shes the best :D).

Andy and AI - for helping me when i came throught the door.

Jay or John - for working on my car. (like me and most of you out there i love my car and scared of people working on the carm, just in case the do an crapy job. but the job they have done is perfection and fast)

thank you all see you soon for stage 2 :D

did they not put it on the RR for you

What were the before and after power and torque figures?

no sorry they did not put on the rolling road.

but in the APR website it quotes 252hp / 303lb-ft on 93 octane. now i think thats from the flywheel, and the figures that high just from the remap i dont think its from the wheels.

from the wheels i reckon it'll be about 230hp - 240hp / 270lb-ft - 280lb-ft. correct me if im wrong.

but you have to take on account that, be for they did the remap they asked what octane im running and thats 98 optimax. so it might be little bit more bhp.

 I cant belive they can get away with quoting those gains for a stage 1 remap.

Your guesses are more relaistic I'd say - given any companies stage 1 software on a dyno dynamics rolling road i'd say most varied between 225-235bhp and 270-280lb/ft torque.

Main thing is it feels good

none of the manufacturers quote correct bhp figures in they're claims. Its to get potential buyers to commit

They looked more like what you wouild expect from a stage 2 remap with additional modifications. And to quote them using 93ctane fuel, christ with 98-100 ron european fuel that would increase massively, so i would say it is a tad unrealistic

The RR doesnt lie (good ones anyway).

ultimately though all that matters is that the power delivery and pull is much more impressive which i have no doubt it will be.
