Hi guys, its 1.45 am and i just got back from wales with my new skoda, a very dusty 130 rapid with loads of spares so its gonna be a long summergetting it how i want it and of course running a 2 litre zetec. Happy days i think I will get some pics up asap

Zetecs are pretty reliable actually, free reving, economical and cheap to fix. Even the 1.25 packs 75hp and in the Fiesta mk4 is quite nippy.

As long as the cambelt is changed at the correct interval and the correct oil is used, they last well. They are not really a true Fixed Or Repaired Daily engine anyway, as most of the engine design was done in Japan (Yamaha).

I think the rear engined Skodas run best on the original Mlada Boleslav lumps though.

Had Fords for the last 25 years with very few problems, now compared to the brand new Estelles and Rapids that we used too collect from the distributors, these regulary used drop all their coolant, and have no fifth and reverse gears.

I'm getting old & senile but i think a couple of years ago it was about 40 rapids & about 140 estelles (105 / 120 4 doors)

I don't know for sure, but I think that car club officials like DaveRapid are in a position to get numbers taxed and SORNed (in use, and hopefully undergoing registration respectively).

How are you getting on with the Zetec conversion. I run a 2 litre Lancia Twin cam carb. version but am looking for a change. had planned to go up to maybe Lancia 2.0ie injected engine but cant get a good one. 2.0 Zetec seems to be a reliable efficient engine with good output and easily tuned. Dont know if i would have enough patience for another adaptor plate etc unless when you are getting yours made up, you might get 2 !!! The Lancia swap i did was well worth the effort and but i feel a newer designed engine would give me better power. I could go twin 45's or throttle bodies but i find the Lancia engine is an expensive engine to modify. Keep me posted and good luck with your project.

2.0 zetec is a good lump imho. 150bhp+ in a rwd Skoda would be a real hoot.

just gotta do something with the box though, poss change the gearig, got 3 boxes 2 play with so i should sort something

Which way do you want to go with the gearing? The 120 and and 130 have different CWPs, and both CWP sets fit into 4 or 5 speed boxes.

hiya mate this is the one from barry off ebay i was tempted too but got a estelle wanted it for bits ie gearbox and so on as im putting a 1.6 k series engine in as its light and revs all day long

thats well annoying i own one of the 40 and for some time was tryting to sell it too no avail...but sod em its mine and im gonna have fun with it instead.rare or not
