Uprated Kevlar Clutch - Group Buy

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

hope i'm not stepping on anyones toes etc with this - let me know if I am.

I've been doing a bit of reseach into uprated clutches for the diesel VAG's (this company also offer uprated clutches for the petrol versions too). The Sach clutch seem's like the one to have but also seems like alot of money.

I've been intouch with a company called Kestrel Transmissions :

Welcome To Kestrel Transmissions - High performance clutches and transmissions - North Linconshire UK

They offer an uprated standard type (i.e not paddle) clutch for the Fabia VRS (and the like) for £350 plus vat.

If we can get 10 people together this price comes down to £300 plus vat.

The only down side on this is I don't know how good they are with regards to power handling and peddal feel etc. I'm awaiting a reply on spec's etc.

Has anyone got one of these clutches fitted in their car??

Just to add - This Group Buy has noting to do with BRISKODA and therefore they are exempt from any legal liability if problems arise from the buy.

This buy is not an offical BRISKODA organised buy and therefore BRISKODA, CANNOT be held responsible for any wrong doing that may occur.

I had one on my Audi and held up to 400 lb torque easily with stock peddle feel.

O.k cheers for the reply - looking at your sig - Did you come to a rolling road day that I held for SW-CC in Westek a little while back? Took me for a spin in your car and showed me how good the brakes were while approaching a set of red lights?? lol.

You need to get it approved by VRStu or ColinD (clicky here) and add the usual disclaimer

Hi mate - that is just supply.

I don't think they do fitting but I will ask. They are a clutch manufacturer so I doubt it.

I am happy for this to proceed, the disclaimer has been added to the OP.

Devonutopia had one on his, I bought it off him but not yet fitted it.

Im happy to fit one for anyone ;)

Their website has an odd statement at the bottom of the 'Performance' tab - something about requiring a particular type of flywheel, and the way I'm reading it it sounds like you need to send them a flywheel, but I'm probably wrong.

Was that all resolved? :)

For the record, I had this clutch in mine and I cooked it doing 1/8 mile racing. Only took 2 runs to make it stink to high heaven. To it's credit, once cooled down it was OK until I was able to get my spec clutch, and once refurbed, should be back to new.

Looks like i'm going to have to buy one as I drove my car last night (only MOT'd and taxed it yesterday!) and it started slipping even on part throttle!!

So basically they aren't as good as say a Sach version??

As has been said, you get what you pay for...

The Sachs one works well, if you go beyond what that can take & you want to keep OEM feel, go Spec or similar. If not you can go for the sintered one but that is really on/off..

Paid £700+ for my one. :thumbdwn:

At the moment the car has :

A re-map (not sure who has done it but it does smoke a bit so i'm thinking of getting it re-done somewhere tidy)

Green panel filter

Front Mount Intercooler

Pikey breather mod

EGR delete pipe

The only other mod i'm planning is an exhaust system for it. I don't really want to take it any further unless the turbo gives up the ghost, then i'd probably go for the 150PD turbo but hopefully that will be some while away.

I'm after a resonable bit and pedal with it as it is my daily driver at the end of the day.

Who deals in these Spec clutches and what are we talking money wise??

Spec are expensive at the moment due to exchange rate, having had both spec and sachs, I ended up buying anotehr Sachs clutch as i preferred the feel and got it cheaper
