TDI Tuning box

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm looking to pick up a tuning box for my 105bhp tdi and just wanted to clarify something before I buy, are the units generic in the sense that a 115/130bhp version would also suit the 105 or should I only be looking for a stated 105bhp version?

Also I will be buying 2nd hand as the plan is to have a remap once the warranty expires & I've been keeping an eye out for Dragon/Tunit/Steinbauer kits. Does anyone have experience of/recommend any other makes or would it be best to stick with these 3?

Advice much appreciated

Paul.

As far as im aware, as long as the connectors are correct and its designed for the PD engine the box doesn't need re flashing between different 1.9 PD engines.

I have had a couple of tuning boxes, both being Dragon ones. They have been great, both giving a nice increases in power and not causing any problem with the engine or drive chain.

Your car will smoke more under load but this can be reduced with performance filters and bigger intakes. A great cheap upgrage but watch the insurance hikes as these can sometimes cost more than the boxes themselves.........
