2.0 running rich

Featured Replies

ok folks, i'm getting a recurring problem on my 2.0 and it's doing my crunch in now, it's overfueling on idle to the extent that i get blue clouds form the exhaust when i pull away, i'm not getting any faults when i scan it, the lambda probes are both new and are working fine (i've checked the front one with an afr reader), it runs fine the rest of the time..

ideas?

coolant temp sensor ?

coolant temp sensor ?

:rubchin: yes, good thinking.

i didn't think they would affect the fueling so that you would get clouds though, i suppose it could actually still be 'within limits' so that it doesn't show an error

Blue smoke usuually indicates burning oil, is the breather system all good and clean? Some engines are prone to the breather system clogging, especially in cold weather and short runs. Could be a cheap fix?

 yeah, it burns a lot of everything, it's definitly fuel, i can smell it, and if i leave it idling for long enough it fouls the plugs, will have a look at the breather though

The Coolant sensor went iffy on my AUB 1.4 and the thing wouldn't even start half the time from being to rich.. once it was going it'd puff 'n' puff.. and every so often tick over would be up at 2k rpm.

My Mechanic hooked it up, no errors logged!.. was only through further checking he noticed the car thought it was -4'c on a warm summers day... then 60'c.. then 15'c.. then -18'c.. was all over the place!

Try disconnecting or clamping off the breather hose that goes into the air intake from the crankcase breather.

i must admit i cant remember where the breather hose is without going and having a look, i think it's attached to the rocker cover near the oil filler:)
