Re: Fabia Handling Revelation

Featured Replies

I do not understand the accusation that I was recommending pirated software, and it really hurts. The software involved was VAG-COM 409.1 which is freely downloadable from the Ross-Tech website here, and the website clearly says that it is "Free for non-commercial use".

I am sorry that my walk-through is no longer available but it has just been summarily deleted after all the time and effort I put into it. I was overjoyed at having discovered a way of improving the handling of my Fabia so easily and wanted to share it with all. I would have hoped that this type of post would have been supported by "the management", not discouraged. It is certainly the type of thing that I would like to read myself but I am very discouraged from doing anything like it again if it can be sent into the ether like this with no warning.

I am really sorry if I said something in my post that caused any offence - it was totally unintentional. For the record I totally support the shareware concept and recommend that anyone who wants to use VAG-COM that they download it from the Ross-Tech website and read the notes on this page.

You can see that these notes do not require you to have bought the interface from Ross-Tech but simply warn that some of these interfaces are not compatible with VAG-COM. This was not the case for the interface that I bought.

Certain functionality is only enabled when you pay for a licence and register the program (the shareware aspect of the product). I encourage you to do this, and would happily have added this encouragement if given the chance.

I'm confused?

reveal it........... I need to know....

Can you change the settings you were talking about with the freeware version

Just wondering out loud, but surely the references to the vagcom side of things could be removed if the guide is/was useful? Not my decision I know but generally posts are edited unless the whole thing was spam type post or all illegit?

It is being dealt with in the background.

For future reference for all :

8. Illegal transactions/sites like warez' date=' selling of personal information (i.e. credit cards, e-mail addresses), pornography, etc are not allowed in the forums and will result in the deletion of the post and the revocation of your posting privileges.

10. Moderators and Administrators have final say in anything. [b']If you have a problem or a complaint direct it to them, not to the general forums. [/b]They will then take the appropriate actions.

For point 8 the original thread was closed, and for point 10 this thread is closed.

The OP has been given the opportunity to modify his guide and remove the references to the software but he has thus far chosen to take the less co-operative route.

For the avoidance of doubt to all concerned, Briskoda.net will not allow the discussion of unauthorised versions of VCDS or VAG-COM. So far as we are aware the operation that the OP has described in his guide would require a fully registered version which the OP says was aquired via eBay and hence its removal pending an edit by the OP.

Briskoda is not a democracy, and posting here is not a right. All posts are to be made in accordance with the rule to which everyone has or does agree to. All posts are subject scrutiny by the moderating team and will be edited or deleted as required.

Works for me :)
