Coilys..

Featured Replies

Anybody got any advice on coilovers?

Ive looked at PI and Supersport ... The latest internet price on

But dont know what there like performance wise.

I want to go lower than most shocker will let you, so coilys are a must.

Would like some KW V1's but limited money is a problem.

Any views on the above two coilovers, and any others.

Dave

Just put KW V1's on my fabia.

Handles like a dream now...

Kev

i had supersport on my VR6, they werent great.....

People will often say, you get what you pay for, when it comes to sus, its true.

Kev, Have you had any experience of the Weitec coilover (height only) kit on the fabia?

Garys handles well with his v1's.

AP's here, pretty happy with them.

AP's get my vote.

My mates got weitecs on his fiesta, there quite good, apparently there KW internals? Ive got fk on my fabia and i would say his weitecs are better! Feel mines mines to firm, his seems to ride bumps better but my engine will be alot heavier which might affect it?

The AP I have are very firm on poor potholed city roads and are quite bumpy on old b-roads but on motorways and a-roads they are excellent even better than standard I would say.

Not used myself yet (plan too) but i have yet to hear bad things about vmaxx`s

Ive heard v-maxx are pants.

How much are Weitec's and AP's ?

Do whiteline do anything?

Looked on there website but cant find anything.

Dave

AP's are just under £400.

I'm going for Weitecs, I spoke to G-Werkes about coilovers as they sell all 3 brans and they told me that Weitec and AP are made by KW, the Weitec Hicon GT coilovers and the AP's are lower budget versions of the KW V1's. The reason the Weitecs are more than the AP's is that they use better quality bumpstops etc, the reason they are less than the KW's is that they are galvanised rather than stainless, apart from that they are essentially the same.

Sweet. Just worried about pothole shock.

Dave

With any coilovers (even mega expensive KW's and H+Rs) they arent going to take to kindly to the potholes in a public road. they are designed in theory for track. But its a trade off isnt it, like everything you dont get something for nothing. the APs like FKs Ive seen have progressive front springs so they act more like a regular spring/damper set up which helps alot.

My KW V1s have been on about 3 fabias before mine and are still going strong. Supple, yet firm, is how I would describe them. No experience of any other sort though.

When funds allow I will be looking to go for a new set of V2 coilies, but that's a way off at the moment.

Ive heard v-maxx are pants.

care to share anymore info, or is that all your gonna let on?

I have Vmaxx on my estate and personally I prefer the ride to the KW V2's I had. I would recommend the Vmaxx

Alex

I've used Weitecs before, and recommend them!

I had them on my Escort, and I would say the ride was not much firmer, but MUCH less body roll in corners. They were better than the shock and spring combo I had before (albeit they were Gmax) and better than my brother's Gaz coilovers on his Escort. I got in my brother's car when he put it back to standard and it was hard to tell the difference between his standard car and mine on Weitecs in terms of ride quality...

 this seems to be the agreement with everyone who has them. Until i read otherwise (from someone who actually has them) think i`ll still go for them

Right, well ive ordered the ones in reply #17.

Spoke to a mate who tracks his car alot, and he recommended them too, so £500 delivered. Within 7days, so will fit them in about 1 1/2 weeks and report back.

Dave

will be good to get your feedback Dave, you may of picked up on a couple of my posts about my Eibach setup when tracked so am looking for something alot firmer - could be the answer and at a top price.
