Fabia vRS production delays???

Featured Replies

Just got back from holiday, expecting my new Fabia vRS (ordered end of June) to be ready for collection. The dealer said week 37 delivery when I ordered it, so I rang him on Friday, and he's not sure if it's even been made yet!!! Given that his best guess was three weeks factory to dealer, I may not even get it before the end of the month. (Some people on Briskoda have said FIVE weeks factory to dealer...)

At this rate, I'm going to have to shell out a load on my current car to keep it going - and avoiding those costs was the point of trading it in! Plus I'm not impressed that no-one seems to be able to tell me if the

Sorry to hear that. Not much else you can do really, apart from see if they can phone around other dealers to see if they may have any available. This is what happenned to me, I was in a similar situation, but luckily there was a one in a different colour to the one chosen that somebody cancelled on, so I ended up getting it early.

It is a complete ****ter for ya though I can imagine, because I was in the situation where I'd have had to waste hundreds replacing pads, tyres and get my old car serviced.

Maybe you could also have a look at the Ibiza FR TDI?

Just rung my nearest SEAT garage, and was guaranteed I'd be in my choice of Ibiza FR within ten days. Go figure - now I REALLY don't know what to do!

Check the order form, if there is a delivery date on it then your fine, you can cancel or get compensation if missed. But I bet it says TBC. My car for example was ordered late September build week 47, (Late November) and didn't get the car to 3rd January due to Christmas.

If your car is not working too well and you relied on getting a new car ask your dealer for a courtosy one, and taking the trade in.

Ta for the advice, but I'm glad to say that a trip to the dealership in person has revealed that the car is at the port ready for its trip across The Channel after all, so it's supposed to be arriving some time next week. It'll only be a few days later than promised if that's the case, so I'm a Happy Bunny once again!

Fingers crossed, but if things don't turn out as planned, I'll see about a courtesy car - didn't even think of trying that...

Kinda clad, 'cos I'm not that fond on the Ibiza, and it would've been an early-type FR without all of the features of the 2005MY version...

No doubt my (hopefully good) experiences will appear here soon enough! ;)

its not just Fabia's that are delayed, my octy vRS was meant to be here on the 1st of September, and won't be here till the end of the month, but I've blagged a car from them as I sold mine last week...

the only delivery date on the form is sept 04, is it worth trying to get a discount on the price? Are there better deals out there now that the 54 reg rush is over?

Glad to hear you're sorted mate. Just out of interest mate, what was the difference between the new and old FR Ibiza's?

The stock one I looked at was only missing a handful of tweaks from the pictures of 2005 MY version that were in the brochure TBH - the new MP3 stereo, the new steering wheel (with buttons for the stereo), new names for the colours (although the only actual change was a slightly bluer shade of metallic grey, I think) and that was about it.

Not much I know, but seeing how I'm waiting for a facelifted Furby vRS, which amounts to a new pair of rear lights, a lid on the cubby-hole under the stereo and little else, it was enough to make me double-check with the Skoda dealer (which I'm glad I did  )...

Just thought I'd put an end to my contributions to this thread by saying I got my car last Friday! :D
