flatspots mk 1 vrs

Featured Replies

Hi guy's was wondering if i could get some advise on my car. I have just purchased a mk 1 octavia vrs on an 05 plate form a main dealer, it has 60k and fsh.

After going for a blast at the weekend I have noticed that she seems to flat spot in 2nd and 3rd gear at around 5300 revs. Best way for me to describe this is that it just seems to hit a wall in terms of power bit like driving a tdi! also when it hit,s this the car seems to kangaroo.

Is this rev limit around peak performance considering that the car is standard? Should i just be changing up earlier? believe me I wont be making a habit of over revving it. Or should I pop it back to dealer as it's under warranty?

Thanks look forward to your advise.

Hi, these cars are quite common to develop flatspots.

Could be any number of things, are you using the correct fuel?

Apparently as i've just found out 95 RON is no good for the vRS

These cars should be run on fuel that is 98 RON and over.

It should rev higher than that no problems (A TDi just stops accelerating when it hits the governer anyway, it doesn't misfire). I'd start by asking the dealer to read the fault codes, and if they're not sure from those, give you a copy to post on here.

a few areas could be coil packs, dirty tb, spark plugs, fuel.

I guess MAF

Has it been chipped ? mine does the same around the 5500 mark, boost drops from about 16 to about 13 psi makes it feel like its n/a engine..

opps just read standard in your post forget that then.

Exactly Rich; there are too many possibilities to not need a diagnostic.
