Can't access steering assist channel 1

Featured Replies

Went through 44 -> Adaptation (10) then to channel 1 and got not available/Error.

Channel 2 shows K-lamp two colour or something similar in the name and has values that can be read.

Confused me so can anyone help on this?

This is with a HEX+CAN USB lead using VCDS 805.3 on an Octy II (1Z - 2005).

The other 2005 Octy II (1Z) car I did it on the thing could be found and adjusted without issue although this was using VCDS 805.2 before it updated itself.

Am I correct in thinking this is the correct way for adjusting the steering weight?

Thanks

I know it's a different system to the Fabia, but that is adjusted by changing the control unit coding through 44 and 07.

You are correct in chanel 01, but few steer. assist. need acces code 40168, after it will chanel opens..

try it.. ;)

As rolbar says often you need to perform a login before you can carry out an adaptation.

Is that through Security Access - 16 on VCDS?

If so tried that and it told me to go away. Any further suggestions?

Coding II lets me in with that code, but still won't let me see channel 1

Perhaps it's not adjustable on your car.

Perhaps it's not adjustable on your car.

I was coming to that conclusion, but very surprised at this since I did a car with the same reg year yesterday for somebody else. Would be extremely annoying as that is something I did want to adjust.

Depending on the control module software version the characteristic curve may not be adjustable, you can already see that by looking at the control module identification (i.e. the component id). It say KL XXX, the KL stands for Kennlinie (German term for characteristic curve) and if the number behind is higher than 16 its not adjustable, if its below you should be able to adjust it. A security access is never necessary to adjust this setting.

Oh well, that's a real shame so I guess it's not adjustable. I take it that means none of the new octy's are adjustable too then or is the 16 a model rather then revision number?

Thanks Guys.

I think, correct me if I am wrong , the number 16+ limit is because of the hex coding as in F = 16

Yes and no, but this has nothing to do with the actual problem. The channel has been disabled by the manufacturer since they figured they needed more than 16 different maps in there and the module isn't able to hold that many which is why they switched from simple selecting to uploading a proper map when needed.

Hi, I have tried the steering adjust via 44 / 07 route on my 1u octavia 1.8t 4x4 but my OLD vag-com v701.4 cable/ software can't find the module.

Do you think more recent vcds cable might work?

Best wishes

John

None of our "cables" is tight to a specific version, only pirated/fake ones are. The latest version is Release 11.11.0 which is availble on our download page and the update is free so there is absolutely no reason to use an old version like you seem to do unless you are stealing our work. :) Now, ask yourself if you were in my shoes - would you help if somebody asks a question like this? :)
