Thinking of bidding for these aslong as he replies saying all the tyres are legal.

He's says they are to small for his pcd of 110 so im guessing they will fit.

So they are 17s on 40 tyres will they affect my speedo?

I would get the guy to read the PCD off the back of the alloys. Should be on one of the spokes.

Your PCD is 100 - they wont fit if they are 110!

205/40 17 is fine for a Fabia.

I asked the width because the figures you gave (60 for your current tyres and 40 for the new ones) are the aspect ratio (ie the ratio of the height of the tyre sidewall expressed as a percentage of the width) and thus meaningless on their own

As well as knowing the tyres will fit (as confirmed by Lummox) you also wanted to know the effect on your speedo.

You are just outside the 3% rule of thumb, but should be OK as long as you are aware of this.

I reckon 3% is a little too small a "gap" to keep within. I reckon you can go to at least 5% fairly safely. My car came with the same steels as above, and now runs 215/40 R17 which is pushing that %% a bit more still.

He's just said they are 195/40/17 and 5x100.

Looks like i'm in.

I've got a pretty good chance seen as he hasn't mentioned any of this in his description.
