Featured Replies

Well im after an full turbo back miltek exhast from Awesome GTi, because they are done an brillient offer on this exhuast. i just have 2 questions to ask:

1 - is there an built quality issue becuase i read more where and bracket on the exhuast came off and leaking on the joints. is this true? or it just and one off case.

2 - is there an performance difference between with res and non res on the car?

wow 44 view and nobody knows anything!

Hi

Sorry i cant answer your question re build quality but i believe the only dif with res and non res is the noise.

I have the full turbo back on mine and i love it , sounds no different to the original until you boot it then it has a nice understated growl.

I had mine fitted at awesome who did a superb job. Totally recommend them and the exhaust.

I've only got an early cat back system (before there was a choice of resonated or none resonated) & am very pleased with it :D I don't believe there is any noticable performace gain from fitting one type or the other, but then others will know better :o

From the cat back, the origional system is single piece & has to be cut off to be removed, where the Miltek is a multi piece to allow easy installation. And good installation is the one of the keys with this system . Also I believe that Miltek now supply a torque resisting dog bone bush insert with their systems, if not, this is a necessity to do IMHO!!!!

When mine was first fitted it kept comming loose at the back box. This was down to 2 issues, the fitters had't done a proper job in the first place as they had used origional (& now split) rubber mounts, but also there was so much torque causing the engine to move about that it was pulling the joints apart  Just watch on a rolling road and you will see what I mean! This had never been a problem with the factory item, because of it's construction. The torque insert should help considerably with this  It sorted mine out! I think that was where many of the comments of snapped brackets came from & probably why joints leaked!

The only other thing I would say is that you need to try and keep on top of polishing the exhaust end tips. They will naturally dis-colour but they can also get a carbon build up which can be difficult to remove if you don't do it regularly  But that could be said of a many things :rofl::rofl:

Overall, it's a very good "off the shelf" system which i'm sure you'll enjoy

I've heard of brackets snapping off the downpipe as there isn't a lot of flexible pipe employed, but so far so good on mine I think, although it has been previously repaired.

I have a resonated system and it's quite quiet in the cabin but apparently it sounds good outside and the difference in the engine (with a stage 1 map) is very worthwhile.
