Changing mainbeams and sidelights on xenon unit

Featured Replies

I have been searching the forums for recommendations for uprated bulbs for the Main/high beam and sidelights on SWMBO's new furby. As such I have purchased some nice OSRAM +50% and LED bright white sides. Next step fitting... opens manual... goto dealer...

So I have been searching the forums and have found a 50-50 split between, yes it's possible, and goto dealer.

I have also found metions of a "how to" for changing these bulbs in a xenon setup. But I cannot find it.

So as a full blown member of the fat hand squad, I ask. Can I change these bulbs without the need of a dealer, and if so can someone point me to the "how to".

You certainly can do it - as you are in Fareham, you could try one of the locals such as VRStu, or take a trip to JKM, who would charge a bit I think but worth getting to known them as they'll probably end up tuning your car at some stage :P

With regards a how-to, I dont think I've seen one - the problem with the Xenons is the high voltage involved for the xenon bulbs themselves, plus getting to the bulbs is rather tricky.

I'd get some quotes, I couldn't be bothered to do it myself and paid a tenner IIRC but that was ages ago sorry.

Thanks I'll have a word with JKM, had been looking for an excuse to go see them, noticed that I missed out on the RR day there :'(.

If anyone else has knowledge on how to do this, then it will be gratefully received, I hate the idea of paying someone to change a bulb.
