Felicia Problems - Wiring / Alternator?

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

car was driving absolutely fine last night. Got into it this afternoon, started up, passenger got in and slammed the door, radio cut out. Then had a funny smell, a bit like burning plastic. Then drove up the street and the airbag light came on and heard a funny sqealing noise on acceleration. Took the car back home and looked under the bonnet, appears to be the alternator sqealing when the car's revved. Radio now comes on and off randomly when driving along, but stays on when the ignition is turned off

Anyone any ideas as to what's wrong / how to go about getting it fixed?

Thanks,

Adrian

My Felly's airbag light came on after the alternator regulator failed and was kicking far too many volts out. Could possibly be that.

Does sound very dodgy. The burning smell would worry me enough to go to a garage.

fairly common fault for the regulator to fail and melt on the felicia alt. can burn the battery out too, which daverapid will tell you all about!

just get a new alt soon as. i sold my parts car one - might have one on the favorit im breaking next though. failing that take a run up to priors on cave hill, should still be one in one of the 6 felicias up there :)
