Today I clipped my rear wash pipe back in the engine bay since it popped off in the cold snap (yes, THAT cold snap from weeks ago ) anyway, used the wash/wipe to check all is well and I noticed that at one point of the sweep, the angle of the jet was moving around a little bit during the sweep. It returned to it's normal state but I wondered if perhaps this happens, and I just need to tighten something up.

I had a similar problem on my mk4 golf in the end the spray use to follow the wiper that was the little black bit working loose

Check the ball that sprays the water is secure

Its fairly common Jason, Josh posted a fix for it a good while back, i'll see if I can rake it out.

Thanks for the link. I will take a look sometime if it gets to the point of totally following the wiper rather than just shaking a bit.

Spray with WD-40 or similar it may prevent it, I know I will
