Alot of pipework! But nice neat job. The welding is really neat!

Looks quite a small intercooler but a tidy install, how effective is it?

how effective is it?

I didn't try on this kit cus the weather's crap in poland :thumbdwn:

probably to 200ps/400Nm will be OK (turbo ARL/BPX + remap)

everything is about 200 pounds + oli cooler 100

how small..... I bet the SMIC wouldn't be that far off on charge temps

this FMIC maybe looks small, but it is 3 times bigger than SMIC.

Size isn't everything. Its the internals and the effectiveness at dissapating heat

Size isn't everything.

I know...SMIC is hidden behind bumper, FMIC is on the front

I found photo FMIC in my latest car 6L 130PD (FMIC+turbo ARL+remap=196KM/398Nm)

I guess so.. each to there own. No need if your not running extra's tbh. Nice welding btw

Oil cooler with sandwich plate as well - hmm perhaps, just perhaps ;)

Nice oil cooler. Looks familiar. :D Mine's attached from the underside, but I like the brackets you must have welded up for it.

Depth is actially more important than width, and the Forge FMIC is only 50mm thick.

So a cheap ebay cooler is the same as a forge.........

Without wanting to put words in Ross' mouth here, I think he's mainly referring to the depth of the intercooler being an important factor. The Forge one is not that deep, and they made a custom one that *was* deeper for Shifty's, now Mr Grumpy's car.

The reasons for the Forge one being so expensive are - small runs, very easy to fit to the car, and the work itself is good for DIY fit too. You can probably do better/cheaper if you have a different hardware combo, as the Forge one IIRC was developed for the stock turbo.

If you know what you're doing you could keep the number of hoses down to a minimum, use a deep but possibly less heigh front mount, and make it work better with a highly tuned hybrid for example.

I won't be doing that personally, but Ross might well do at some future date ;)
