Cant Get The Aux in/MP3 to work

Featured Replies

Brand new Fabia 2

I have got the Aux in enabled and the Aux in settings set to level 3 (for mp3 player).

For the life of me I cannot get any sound through the cars system :(

The lead I am using works fine when connecting to my speakers in the house.

Anybody got any ideas?

does your stereo say AUX IN?

Yep

might sound daft, but is the volume turned on on your MP3 player? if it is then i have no more solutions except make sure youve followed the instructions in the manual, if it says anything about using the AUX?

edit: just had to go to the car and i had a quick play, have you turned the AUX on? its in the menu.

Yes, MP3 turned up to max volume, Aux defo turned on. Manual followed exactly

I am stumped really

I know it should work because it all worked fine when we had the demo car out to test drive.

take it back to skoda, ask them to have a look.

just wondered if its wired in correctly at the back of the stereo or like the vw at work that has a jumbo box and ipod dock, yet no connection to the stereo.

The solution is much more simple. Get a Pocketdock. It connects via the slim connector on the bottom of an Ipod and make sure you have set the Radio to Aux 3. The latter is also necessary if you are connecting via a simple 3mm jack connection regardless of whether it's an Ipod or not. You just need to change the Aux setting to Aux 3. It will work.

I think there is something not connected somewhere, as when we had a test car it all worked fine in that car!

It is set to Aux 3, and it wont work

Have you pushed the CD button until "aux" shows up in the display. I think you have to push it two or three times..

Yeah, done that

Sounds like the cable has come off one end or the other. (assuming no centre arm rest) Pull out the square 'box' near the cup holder behind the handbrake. If you have little bendy arms you might be able to reach down there and check, failing that you can just stuff your arm up the side of the plastic, mine went back again (yours might stretch/break/explode - don't blame me etc etc).

Or, take it to the garage..

Thanks, I might take you up on that if the stealer fails

no probs, i personally think the wires are missing out the back of the stereo. did you try another mp3 player on it?

Yeah, tried that.

I also think it must be a wire on the back of the stereo or under the Aux In plug

just a thought the end point of the 3.5mm jack.. dont plug it into the ipod, but turn the volume right up and keep touching the end point and see if you can hear any noise difference? if you can at least it will cut things down if it doesnt make any noise then my original thought of it not being connected full stop will be the answer.
