Awesome -ECS Race N75 Valve- Anyone fitted one of these?

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I am just wondering if anyone has fitted one of these N75 Valves from Awesome:-

http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/product.php?xProd=11033&xSec=294

I am not after extra BHP, just trying out/replacing various small engine parts to try and make my Octy run smoother.

It has an early Jabbasport chip/re-map which was on the car before i bought it.

I have upgraded the air filter (panel)

Changed the diverter valve to a Forge 007P(A)

Changed the 'Y' shaped breather hose that was split to the updated version.

I intend on changing the coolant temp sensor to the updated 'Green' version soon.

Will also be cleaning out the throttle body in the near future.

So would the N75 valve from awesome be a good thing to try or should i get a different N75 valve??? Or just leave the standard one alone???

I'm not very mechanical minded and not interested in power gains, just would like the car to run as smooth as possible.

Also i have a re-curring fault code of 17704 which i am trying to resolve!

Any thoughts/advice will be very appreciated.

Defo; get the new temp sensor, it does make an improvement...I have one of these N75 valves and all seems fine...Mine though was used to cure a problem i had

I purchased the same N75 valve direct from ECS a year ago. It made a lot of difference to my car in smoothing out hesitation and giving a more aggresive boost. Mine is remapped also.

I also changed the Forge DV spring from green to yellow to compensate the more aggresive boost and the car pulls great.

what was the problem you had to cure Phil? Surging?

Smoothing out hesitation is basically all i want to do so i think i may fit one just to see if it makes a difference.

As i have limited mechanical knowledge, are these easy to fit, does it come with fitting instructions?:o

Also does anyone have a pic of one fitted to their car or just an engine bay pic pointing out where the N75 valve is?

Thanks

llol

the valve is jus under the cover. next to the DV.

not sure but the n75J i have needs to go on the wrong way so the cable connects round the back not the front like urs is.

I have gone back to the std one now and since had the RS tuning map on and its fine now

gonna try the J again on the new map but dont think it will be much diff.

good luck

I have just had a read through some old threads about the N75 valve.

Now i am very confused as the standard valve is available in different types such as 'H' and 'J'

Which one is on the car as standard?

So would i be better off leaving the standard one alone, upgrading to one with a different letter on the end or going with the ECS Race one?

Also would changing the valve effect my Re-map or create overboost and damage my turbo?

Just wish i had abit more mechanical knowledge! :(

dont think it will dammage aut mate, all the J does is slow the info down so i think it does give a slight overboost but hardly anything. iirc its the H that is std.

also the J is a proper audi bit made for the 100 i think, and the ecs one is a modified H

i think any way.

some cars like the J and others dont, mine with the old remap didnt like it, not tried this map yet. It wont do anything to the remap, just run like sh1te. if the car is mapped right it doesnt matter.

Standard used to be the F but now is the E. The ECS is apparantly a tweaked H.

If you change for a H or J there is a small chance it will overboost, this will not damage the turbo it will simply throw the car into limp mode and restrict boost to about 5 psi.

I have the H with a Revo map and have not had limp mode bought on by overboosting yet and my boost peaks at 20.8 psi

cheers Ian mate, wanst sure which it was.

I never had any probs n I had mine on for bout 6-8 month. then got annoyed so put the std on on to try it out and it was nicer to drive but still not smooth enough.

Ian is correct, I confrmed with ECS that there N75 valve is effectively a hybrid type "H" and not a true "J".

My boost peaks at just the same max at 20.8 and average 16-18 psi.

As varous old threads have covered this you will see that it does not always fix everyones hesitation issue, as these could be the result of slightly different senarios in each case. All I can say is mine is good.:)

Had a quick look under the bonnet today at the location of the N75 valve, looks easy enough to swap and fit an ECS race one.

Them non-reusable hose clips are a pain in the **** though!

Looks like i will need to get 3 small hose clips from somewhere before i buy one and fit it.

Long shot but does the ECS valve come with hose clips?

No mate you will have to source some
