7 speed DSG - Hill Hold Control & ESP query

Featured Replies

Having trouble getting a definitive answer regarding the 7 speed DSG. Does this transmission always come with standard fit Hill Hold Control and ESP regardless of country supplied and trim level - is it a similar situation as with the Fabia 2 Tiptronic, it being the only Fabia to have standard fit ESP (and rear discs) ? In other words, is it impossible to have a 7 speed DSG without these fitted ? They certainly come as standard on the new Golf.

I don't think it's on the Golf Plus..... my wife has just taken delivery of one (1.9 PD DPF with 7 Spd DSG), and it does NOT have hill hold control: specified as an extra!!!!!

According to the VW UK website the Golf Plus is only available in 6 speed DSG with the 1.9 TDI 105PS engine. Unlike the normal Golf hatch, the Plus still awaits an updated model and then it will probably be available with 7 speed DSG. The dry 7 speed version only seems to appear on petrol models whereas the diesels have the wet 6 speed version.

The original query continues.............................

There seems to be so much confusion over this.

Last week I asked a dealer to check for me, and he rang up Skoda UK, who originally told him the 1.4TSI comes with a 6 speed DSG gearbox and ESP and hill hold were both only options.

I'm pretty sure this is incorrect, and dealer agreed that Skoda UK representative didn't seem to know what they're talking about.

Dealer has just phoned me back tonight and confirmed that it's a 7 speed DSG and ESP and hill hold are standard on the 1.4TSI Elegance. Sounds like it took him some considerable effort to find this out!

Meanwhile, Skoda customer services still haven't replied to me on this matter...

Does anyone have anything in writing from Skoda UK?

One of the reasons for confusion is the Octavia brochure: if you can find the reference to DSG regarding the 1.4TSI in the small print at the bottom of the tech spec page, it wrongly states the DSG is 6 speed for 1.4tsi and 7 spd for the 1.8. This is probably what Skoda UK were using as a source. They are both 7 speed. the diesels remain 6 speed for now. re Hill hold, this seems to be standard on the L&K; can't say if it's a standard feature of the dsg. I think ESP is a feature of the model spec, not the gearbox on the Octavia so standard on L&K, 4x4/Scout and vRS, but I couldn't swear to this.

There is a definite error in the UK Octavia brochure stating it is a 6 speed DSG on all 1.4 TSI's when in fact it is the 7 speed - Skoda UK confirmed this to me and stated it would be corrected in the next brochure - don't hold your breath though!

As far as the HHC & ESP are concerned, the website's configurator shows these as standard on all 1.4 TSI DSG's - is this the case with all of the 7 speeders regardless of country supplied - that is they all come with these included as standard?
