Does it need to be done?

Featured Replies

Hey guys, just returned from a 500 mile round trip to the grandparents in hartlepool and during the journey the fabia hit 60,000 miles. He's a 1.4MPi and i think someone told me that the timing chain needs changing around the 60,000 mile mark... would this be the case?

Many thanks,

Duggie.

Lissy was done at Skoda just before 60k and they didnt change chain

I thought it was cambelts that needed doing, not chains, but probably worth waiting for Ross or someone like him to answer :)

Thanks folks, i'll wait 'till Ross passes final judgement because he seems to be right about most things, sorted my speedo problem anyway!

I should be popping down to the Unit on Saturday sometime late morning to do some computer work etc, in case you are driving down :)

Unless the chain is rattling or giving any particular problems I would leave it alone.

Duggie, I changed my cambelt at 60K but not sure about timing chains, I know my Diesel C-Max has a chain and thats good till 150K IIRC
