on the other hand.

to give me £1000 or £2000 for my old car.

I would buy a motorcycle instead, that way.

. I wont get hit with huge £££££ brand new prices of a vechile

. bikes are less polluting than cars

. I only ever use 2 seats in my car anyway.

now if only the govenment thought of this too.

I just hope a lot of decent cars don't get scapped by people. One family member has a Volvo V70 with over 200K on the clock and it doesn't look its 10 years. The same goes for my dad's Merc C280 ( 1995). I would hate to see some classic stuff traded in by people who don't know their stuff and are bored. To me, scrapping a perfectly good car is not environmentally friendly ( I refuse to use the trite G word) anyway. All a bit of a political gimmick to me:thumbdwn:

Yep it is a political gimmick

On one hand the Government want people to use their cars less and things

And on the other they want people to buy new cars.

I was washing my Favorit and a Passat.

My Favorit is 15 years old and the Passat is now 10 years old. Definately too good to scrap in the name of green motoring.

If you have the money for a new car and have a tired workhorse you want to retire then it might work in your benefit especially if you can negotiate a doscount on top.

I wont be doing it that's for sure.

They couldn't find me an estate that returns 65 to the gallon for starters :)
