I would like a couple of opinions

Featured Replies

First off, I just would like to say my dad as an Octavia I VRS.

He thinks an absolutely fantatsic car and so do I.

But that's not the point of this thread.

I would like to know what the engine differences are between the VRS and the 1.8T 4x4?

I got this silly idea of using a 4x4 body but running the VRS engine in it (this was when I thought that the 4x4 had a diesel in it)

Well basically my silly idea was to make the 4x4 into a VRS replica (including basically the whole interior but not sure on that part yet) but then I wanted to run bout 350bhp or even more

I think that sounds great but silly at the same time.

BUT I couldn't use the car for myself

With me being only 18 coming on 19, the insurance would be a big kick to the nether regions (£7500 for me by myself 1 years no claims on my dad's VRS)

But I was thinkin bout doin it and once it was done happy birthday/ merry christmas daddy

I thought this mite have been pretty awesome mainly down to the fact my dad wants a Nissan Skyline R34 GTR (he likes the idea of lots of power BUT doesn't want to buy a new car)

Anyways, if you would be so kind as to helping me, I think I mite just love you forever :P

Anyways

Thanks in advanced

Luke

Oh and hopefully my dad doesn't come on here and read this

A stock 4x4 will tune to the same level as a VRS as they share the same turbo. The map is what determines the power difference between the 2. If you wanted to go to 350 bhp then your looking at new turbo, engine internals, manifold, fuel pressure regulator, injectors etc, etc. Very costly exercise and IMO not worth it. It has been done though so it's not impossible.

mate its the same car but just mapped lower if your talking about modding it to that level then your insurance will be even more....plus will cost K'sss not £'ss do you also realise that its not a true 4x4??

i think the best thing for you to do is research abit also have you ever driven a mapped vrs 220 bhp if not try that first before saying you want 350 bhp:thumbup:

all the best mate

Cost to convert the exterior and interior to vRS spec and tune it to 350bhp, sort out the suspension and brakes and everything would put it close to the price of an 8 or 9 year old R34 GTR anyway. But it would be fun to see a vRS spank an R34 :)

might as well buy something thats closer to 350 brake standard, because the amoung of cash to get 350 out of the engine, then wheels/suspension/brakes so that you can effectively put the power down and be safe would be rather large

If you really want a vRS 4x4, rather than start with a 4x4150, and then fit vRS suspension, brakes, and interior, why not start with a vRS, and fit the Haldex gear and floorpan (may need a new carpet, but lots of people swap the vRS cream for the Elegance black or anthacite carpets anyway)? Awesome GTi have done this (and to factory OEM+ standard) on a Golf IV.
