door locks

Featured Replies

Hello!

its been a while since my last post on this forums. Lots of work, so little time. jejeje, on this weekend i got into fixing my door locks three of them had problems, the drivers side, passenger side and rear left side.

When i finally got the drivers side out (after an entire morning looking for the triple square tool) i realize that the problem on this one was not a faulty solder point, nor a faulty microswitch but rather an open line apparently caused by moisture. nevertheless i resoldered all of the solder points and repaired the open line. and everything worked just like the day we bought the car. so there are 2 more doors left to check.

one thing i tried to sort out was the dreaded noise this thing make when engaging and disengaging. i drove a friends jetta the other day and the locks were a lot quieter.

Why're these things are so loud?

Damn, that's clever. I can't fix one flipping door...

jajajaja, well i have to thanks to this forum since all the technical info about what to look for on lock problems was found here.

Doing by the feel of the doors, there's a lot more acoustic mat in a Jetta's doors than in a Golf 4 or an Octy.

so basically both cars use the same crappy, noisy locks? i read somewhere that they made a change to the mechanism on newer revisions but can't tell if this is true.
