Rear parking sensor delay

Recommended Posts

Hi all

A few weeks ago, the rear washer pipe came away slightly at a joint inside the boot lining, just above the wheel arch on my hatchback Octavia II. The rear washer still worked but the join was leaking. The result was that eventually it pumped copious amounts of water into the rear parking sensor module which sits below the join.

Needless to say the parking sensors became intermittent. on the occasions that the parking sensors were working the beep was only sounding from the near side rear door and the sound was very faint.

I have had the rear parking module replaced at a Skoda garage, but since being replaced there are three issues.

1) There is about 2 - 3 second delay before the BEEP to indicate that the sensors are enabled.

2) The detection beep is only sounding in one of the rear doors

3) The beep is very week.

This seems to be foxing the garage so i thought i would ask the nice people of Briskoda forum if they could check to see if they 1) have a delay between engaging reverse and the unit beeping and 2) if the sensor beep only comes from one door.

All the best

Steve

If they are the same sensors as fitted to the wifes Eos, they don't work until you have actually HIT the wall........

Trust me, I know she tells the truth..........

A friend is having the exact same problem after the same pipe disconnecting. The reason this particular pipe disconnected is because when it popped at the Wiper before the dealer fixed it in a way that it would NEVER come off, so hence it popped at the next weakest spot. IIRC the garage are replacing the Control Module on the wheelarch. What a STUPID place to have a connection point about an electronic control module.

Have you had any pipe disconnect before?

Hi Gaff

I agree a very bad design. Atleast mount the module above the conector, or better still on the other side of the car.

This was the first "pop off". After I reconnected the pipe, it popped off in the boot at the wiper motor about 3 days later.

I had the same problem on my Octavia 1. However it leaked into a wiring loom connector. The result was that every time I locked the car it unlocked its self 54 times ! it was okay once the connector was dried out.

You will have to let me know how your frined gets on with the new module.

I spoke to the guy the other night about his, the garage changed the control module out. It wasn't working right either and did a Basic setup with the Diagnostic equipment. Working fine now.
