VRS handling with coilies + ARB??

Featured Replies

Well basically I love everything about the VRS apart from its handling capabilities.. Previous to the vrs I've owned 3 extremely good handling cars being a striped out, slightly tuned saxo (which handled superb until you hit a bumpy road!), a citroen c2, completely standard but was extremely impressed by the way such a base model car handled and finally a 182 which again standard was amazing..

Now say I had KW v1s, jabba ARB and for arguments sake sport contact 2's (what im running at present) how well would it handle in comparison with other standard hot hatches?

All examples and help/advice much appreciated.

I will just add though a change in car is out of the question, the handling isn't that bad I would want to get rid of the car in anyway its more to see how much better the car would be with the coilies and arb and whether it is worth the £££'s.

Thanks in advance,

With those mods, all I would say is "It helps" - helps a lot. However, you can never get over the fact there is a very heavy engine up front. My car still doesn't handle that well, and I've gone to extremes to try and shift weight off the front

Carbon bonnet

Battery now in boot

Aircon ripped out

Ultra light flywheel

- probable saving of around 50kgs off the front wheels. :)

I also have KW V1s and the Jabba ARB. I even have the peloquin diff, but you cannot get over the fact the car weighs quite a bit for a "hot hatch" and therefore I doubt will ever handle like a 182 could. Be happy in the fact if you had a smash in a fabia compared to the 182, you'll probably be able to walk out afterwards. ;) Forgot to add I also run T1-R tyres so also get good grip

Thanks thats more than helpful

I've got KW V1's with one of our ARBS. Some Yokohama prada's at the front and some super cheap tires at the rear pumped up hard and some spacers. It handles really well. Interested to see how it'll go round coombe at the day Jason's sorting out :)

Hopefully, not 360+ degrees round. ;)

lol! I might bring my helmet along just incase anyone doesnt mind taking me passenger round the track if i get one of those passenger pass's. Be interesting to see how one with coilies and an arb really does handle :)

if i saw kev spin i'd laugh may **** off! take a pic.. blow it up and then pin it on his house

Better, but they still roll a bit on hard cornering

I have a feeling that Kev has done a bit more trackwork than the average briskodian so I will be letting him get on with it if I see him coming up behind me.

I have a passenger reserved for my car, but forgotten who it was. :o

he won't be the only one you will be moving over for;) ybrid fabias pah i **** em:D

Hello,

Would wheel spacers assist better cornering, only problem with this is the wheel bolt lengths.?? Longer wheel bolts NOT readily available off the shelf, sort of thing.

Your input very much appreciated.

Spacers increase wear quite dramatically i believe on various components.

I have driven combe twice before though. ;) And once my tyres have warmed up and you've had a "near miss" brown pants moment I'll be right there. :P :D

twice pah you rookie, your going down faster than a cheap whore, there wil be no near misses this time(as long as it dry):D

I found that coily's and the RARB massively increased the handling :)

I cant wait for combe either mine is standard engine wise but i have done that track a few times before so i will be out there with ya trying to keep up with you mapped/big turbo ones lol

Just a quick update, when i first got the car it had new sport contact 2s all round bar the front right. Yesterday i got the back tyres on the front and replaced the kumo with a sport contact (could only afford one so the backs have slightly different wear :( ) but i must say the difference in handling was quite shocking! I mean I new it would obviously make a difference but never thought it would be as substantial as it was!I think with coilies and a rear arb it should suit me pretty well

Devonutopia, where did you get your bonnet?
