Just to update this thread.

I went ahead and used VASSTech, they gave me a great deal price and their customer service in aswering my emails was excellent. Very friendly and happy to answer my questions. They use genuine parts and are ex-VAG main dealer tech's.

I had a service, MOT, brake fluid change and had cruise control fitted. The MOT was done by a local MOT station, not by them.

The work spilled over into two days, as the car failed the MOT on a worn front tyre (d'oh!) - the MOT garage only offered a short free retest window which meant they had to finish fitting the cruise control on another day.

Being busy (them), I had to take it back the following week, but they didn't charge me a penny until all the work was done. Pretty good in my book!

On the return visit I had two new tyres fitted and they completed the cruise fitting.

All in all I am very happy and will be returning next year. Though I may consider getting the MOT done seperatly due to the short retest period (not VASSTech's fault, they use the local garage which I approve of from a sustainable POV). Compared to the other specialists in Bucks they won hands down on customer care and price, and happily gave me a lift to and from the garage into town too.

A big recommendation from me - whatever that may be worth!!

Yes, wrt tyres failing, I've been silly enough to have done that last year (fool!) and was amazed that they could keep the job open long enough for me to take the car away and get two new tyres (that was a dealer and they were honest enough to say that they could not compete with the prices I could get Michelins at (Costco)! I hope that they don't have one of these shaker plates when I go back in a few months with the Passat!

Nice little review and they ound very fair.

Another kick in the balls for local dealers, teach them not to look after their techs wont it.

Which garage was that Rum4mo? What's a shaker plate?

Thanks Lummox.

We don't have a main dealer anymore, closed end of March. But I agree, especially now anyone can stamp the service book.
