11 days to go for the vat free and then?

Featured Replies

I am still fussing about buying a new car but with 11 days to go for the vat free I am wondering whats going to happen to discounts. Are they going to stop or will other offers be available. With the economic climate manufactures are facing what will they do? So do we buy now or wait, what's the group thoughts on this?

I'm sure you'll be able to get the equivalent off. Just be prepared to walk out if you’re not happy with the deal.

Hello Tracer,

Its a buyers market, you can cut a great deal for whatever make or model available, you want. Car sales are down to 59% compared to last year, it said on the news.

As said, be prepared to stand up and walk out of the show room. You are in a commanding position as a buyer, don't spend a penny till your totally satisfied.

Tell the sales-person you'll think about it, and they may change the asking price??

Check out deals on the internet too.

Good luck with your new car.

I'm sure you will still be able to get a very good price after the current offers end, but one thing is for sure - if you have the money or can get the finance now is a great time to be buying a new car!

Agree with the comments made. My thoughts are that if the discounts are stopped or withdrawn by Skoda then sales will take a further tumble and we all listen to the news and they are bad now. After discounts its difficult to get prices back up again. Suppose all manufactures will have this problem.

I would have a real good look around and consider buying a pre registered or demonstrator, the initial depreciation is still bad on a new car.

I bought my 1.4 TDi Sport while they had the 0 % deal on 8 months ago, was best for me at the time - no pre registered 1.4 TDi sports available - not regretted it, or buying the Skoda, but they will replace it with another special offer to keep the sales up quite soon.

You pays your money......................

0% VAT offer expires on 31st March 2009 and yes....You guessed it...Prices go up 3% on the 1st April!!
