2009 (current) VRS model has multifunction steering wheel

Featured Replies

OK just saw my first pic of a 2009 shipment Petrol turbo DSG VRS wagon. This is of course a pre-facelift model as the VRS facelift models are late 2009, so it still looks like the 2008 VRS. It had the "smiley face" MFSW (3 spoke!) and the new radio. Makes me think I will wait for one of these (as I have been spoiled with on-wheel controls on my Renault Laguna).

Glad you like, as do I.

In general, it seems to get a certain amount of criticism on this forum - each to their own I say and now that makes at least 2 of us that like it !

The dash is different too.

skoda are defo taking the pee on this. Im collecting my vrs ltd neek week, the cabin looks the same as the one shown BUT without the mf wheel.

So basically all the ltd gets is leather/grey paint and some funny rims :S. The ltd should have come with a MF wheel as well

rant over:mad:

I think the new steering wheel looks great but my dealer told me the MFSW is only available with DSG which is s***e

Same wheel but 4 spoke with manuals and 3 spoke with DSGs.

Same wheel but 4 spoke with manuals and 3 spoke with DSGs.

Is the 4 spoke wheel with manuals Multi Function?

It is on the facelifted SE, Elegance, L& K, 4x4 & Scout but strangely they only list the 3 spoke for DSGs on the vRS in their brochure. Probably waiting the facelift vRS.

personally i think its shocking in this day and age that you have to get the top spec model before you get the buttons as standard, most other manufactures put them on a lot lower down the range and i know of a few cars that get them in basic spec, but not VAG

When I recently tried the Mk V1 Golf in SE trim I could not believe, apart from the multi function wheel, that fog lamps and full climate control were optional extras. Also, you only get a leather steering wheel if you pay extra for the multi functional one. There was also a very stingy 12 month only roadside recovery. On the other hand, unlike most Octys, it came with standard ESP and MDI including cables. The other strange thing was the optional parking sensors, front and rear only , not just rear.

One step in the right direction though, puddle lights were on the options list!!! :D
