to lower even more or not to lower even more...

Featured Replies

I cant decide....

Have about 5mm left on threads. Really wanted to drop her as low as I can seeing as she only gets driven on weekends and very occasionally in the week now. However, I grounded her going up the driveway to mates farm the other day and also almost got stuck on a speed bump at Warrwick Services last year.

Shes nowhere near as low as loads of others so I know people quite happily drive around much lower. But do I drop her and just deal with it - tactically avoid drivin anywhere with speed bumps and up far tracks (I live out in sticks tho), or do I just live with those last few mm going unused?

any pics of current ride height?

front looks about right id say, prob 5-10mm lower at the back would be my opinion. although its hard to say from the pics?

guess all i can do is try it... not like its a major effort to put her back up again really. Have 2 weeks off for easter so gives me somethin to do

Ross will know this much better than me, as he adjusted the coilovers to their current height on the estate, but the height it is at is about as low as I would go at the moment for myself.

With the trailer behind and a Ford Escort on that, it hit the bump stop 2 times, both times on the motorway with friggin cr*p road surface - typical..

However at this height I've not had any trouble with speed bumps, and in the car park at work the ramp is fine (I have to take it slowly)..

I'm pretty sure you could lower it further, but I'm very happy with the stance & height at the moment :D

Short of removing the adjusters yours is as low as it can be at the rear.

^ WW_VRS and Lummox, am I right in saying the estate is on AP's?

I had mine at first fitted without the adjusters in at the rear, however I have recently refitted them.

I found it to be bouncy on the back without them, and to have the fronts match up so its even the sump needs to be about 1 inch from the floor, so I had a choice of raising the rear or lowering the front.

???? how so? if there's thread, it'll sit lower, marginally maybe but never the less, its still lower.

i say take the adjuster out and wind it all the way down, couple of clicks stiffer and away u go, not in daily use so its not that much of an issue and, as u say, easily wound back up.

She needs to get out of the driveway dont forget! ;) bottom of threads will do nicely fanku x She already has issues with being a country girl!

There's always room to go lower! :D

you have to be carefull. I have mine lower but the back still sits a little higher then the front, it won't go any lower, and it made my handaling horrid. I am going to have to make the front higher :(

I would say it can go lower as long as your not wanting more then two people in the car.

Also another thing to note is the exhaust. It will bang on the RARB if you have one.

I've had zero issues with the rear ARB and exhaust, and I've got a Blueflame which is a lot larger than the stock exhaust. This was on the vRS as well as on the estate vRS

i haven't had any problems with my Miltek, but the standard one knocks if you go to low at the back.
