VRs suspension

Featured Replies

Hello,

What are the differences between the VRS and the normal octavia´s front suspension?

so far i´ve heard of the front sway bar, but nothing more.

im not 100% but i would have thought different springs + shocks, front anti roll bar

dont really know what else you could do

That is about it. The sway bar (ARB)on the VRS mount to seperate Tie bars(ARB links) that then mount to the front struts, where as the standard Octavia ARB bar bolts up to the wishbone.

Other than that the VRS suspension will sit about 25mm lower than standard Octavia suspenson. So the rear would need to be lowered also.

thanks for the reply!!..

Is it the same as the suspension on the Audi TT?... here on my country we never got the vrs

Octavia VRS suspension is the same as Audi TT,S3 and Seat Leon Cupra R.

vRS used a different mounting point for the ARB link compared with the normal octavia as the arb link is connected onto the strut and also the arb goes under the driveshaft.

IIRC.

Although they look the same and can be interchanged, The poundages are different to compensate for the extra weight of the VRS.

Yes very simliar set up to the Audi TT and S3 and R32 Golf, although the wishbones are different on the TT, the ARB on the VRS is thinner but links up the same.

is the front subchasis also diferent, or its the same as the regular octy. where on the chassis does the arb mounts? is there any pic or tecnical diagram where i can see it?

Fundamentals - Spring, damper and ARB rates, and ride height are all different on a vRS. Other than from the changes in front ride height (induces a little more negative camber and more caster), and the different ARB pickups, there's no geometric difference that I know of. The rear geometry doesn't change because the rear is a torsion beam rather than a strut-based suspension.

chicken_eyebrow,

Thanks for the pic!

and do this differences on the suspension improve the ride over the normal octy's suspension or are they there for other reasons. i would think that using the arb at the front of the axle instead of the back would give room for the 4x4 axle that rides the haldex unit on the back.

Oi ........Thats £2 for that.

:P:P

And it's 5000 not 500

Pretty much all of the differences (possibly not the different ARB mounting and links, but certainly the higher rate bar) are there to reduce roll and increase damper control compared with the "normal" Octys. The higher spring rates will lead to a harder ride; whether that's "better" or not is a matter of taste, standard of roads and driving style.
