Fabia Cam Belt/Chain replacement

Featured Replies

I have an 02 Fabia 1.4 16v petrol but don't know whether it has a belt or a chain. Can anyone help please?

If a belt, when does it need to be changed, the car's done 37k miles.

Toothed belt and a small toothed belt! Change at 4 years or 60,000 miles - so if its original one still fitted it needs changing NOW!

Along with the rollers as they are well known to give issues.

Or even maybe a "cambelt kit" plus the "top" roller that seems to have been missed out by VAG - if the kits are still the same as when I got my BBY engined Polo "done" - the indie that did my work supplied that bit as he has seen too many failing. Also maybe just change the auxiliary belt as well - and be done with it, oh, and maybe also the water pump to try to avoid revisiting this area again!

Many thanks for your replies guys. I guess I better get it changed now!

Got my cambelt changed yesterday, the car has done 25500 miles and is 7 years old and it's the first cambelt change.

I was going to get it done before but the money hasn't been avaliable to do till now. I have been lucky seeing how old the old belt was, he also changed the water pump as he said it's best to.

I paid £338 for the lot which doesn't seem to bad, was that the right price or should it of been cheaper.
