Converting DVDs to MPEG/DIVX

I want to convert all my kids DVDs to files that they can watch through a PC, What software gives the best convertion and retains a good picture and sound quality?

The movies will either be played on a 21" LCD tv or a 37" LCD tv

i use DVDfab which will allow you to convert to a multitude of mobile devices.

I watch them on a 50" plasma via Xbox 360

You can get Divx Pro 7 for £13.99 and the DVD plugin for £6.99. Divx compresses really well and still retains a good quality.

it all depends what your wanting. i also have a library of dvds that i have ripped doen to images and mount on the PC allowing me to store the dvds away.

This takes a lot of space mind as the images are between 2 and 4GB.

I use dvdshrink, followed by handbrake. Never had any problems with audio or video.

Any Video Converter, assuming it's not a protection breaking program you seek, this one converts among formats, I use it to shrink my TV program Mpeg2's down to a smaller size, but it does convert formats as well, choose the free version.
