Leak sorted!

Featured Replies

A while ago I posted a thread after noticing water dripping down inside the C-pillar of my vRS :Yikes:.

At the time I suspected it was coming from the tailgate hinge recesses at the back of the roof. :holmes:

After drying things out thoroughly and having now carefully sealed around the joint with a bead of grey silicone (silver car!), I can report that the exercise has been a complete success and a nice dry boot has been restored.

Suspect this was a rare incident caused by weak mastic panel seal during manufacture finally cracking completely after winter frosts of around minus 9.

Probably won't be a very common fault but definately a possible leak source to check if, like I did, one day you find you have a wet boot floor !

Thanks for posting the fix, and well done, it was a weird one for sure.
