Been for my first test drive fabia Vrs

Featured Replies

As title just got back from Philip Wilks in Darlington having tested there demo vrs

first impressions -- Car had only 36 miles on the clock and looked quite nice in black (but it looked like it needed a wash even though it had been washed the day b4)

Inside not bad seemed screwed together well and all seemed solid enough if a little bit plasticy (sp) nice seats if a little gawdy.

Did sound like a transit when started up but this would go as you got used to it and had the radio on.

Pulled away ok nice and smooth easily up to 80mph + on a wave of torque (its difficult to be subjective when I am driving a 03jdm impreza with 360bhp/360lbsft) did feel a bit flat as it only revs to 4500 rpm but again it wasnt bad

Overall I liked it and if I can sell my Scoob for what its worth I will probably buy one in red with cruise (or get cruise fitted after) to free up a bit of cash to buy a house the trip showed an average of 40mpg which should rise to 50mpg as it gets run in ect

 Sounds about right. The torque can be improved further ;) Tenner for the Scoob? :P

Any Advance ..... :)

Welcome Tal :wavey:

Not bad motor, the 1.9 TDI. Plenty of poke is available, it's just that it is delivered in a different way to what you are used to. I'd never had a derv monster before and still find myself trying to drive it like a petrol at times, mainly on track it must be said. Tried it at Castle Coombe the other week and changing up early and surfing the torque, I found my speeds were the same if not better than by thrashing it to the limiter (yes mine does pull all the way to the limiter without getting "breathless").

360lb/ft? Why so little? :D

If it only had 36 miles on the clock the engine will still be very tight. It loosens up loads after you've done about 10,000 miles, and feels much quicker (mine does now). When I got it, it did feel a bit flat. It feels a lot more lively now (at least once its warmed up).

PS. I thought Philip Wilks was in Witton Gilbert, not Darlington?
