50k service but got 40k instead.

Recommended Posts

Well the fabia vrs went in for its 50k service, its mot and brake fluid change(which should of been done last year) this week at alex lawrie, liverpool.Picked the car up after being talked through what they had did.Went home got the paper work out and service book just to look through it,to my horror they had replaced the air filter(they had thrown away my GREEN performance filter)checked the service invoice they had actually did a 40k service which i had done last year not a 50k which i stated when i dropped the car off.The total cost was £343.91 which i thought was a bit steep but did not question it,which i should of.After a quick phone call to explain what they had did i have to go back next thursday 2nd april, only time i can get there due to work commitments. They did say they will look for the filter and put it to one side.Surely i have to get some money back, how much is a 50k service?.Will update you all next week.

Just the usual stamp in the book.My mileage is only 38,140 and the car is 5 years old, like i said the 40k was done last year.Never had any problems with alex lawrie they have always been fantastic. So hopefully it will be resolved next week.Maybe the mileage confused them all just bad communication from both parties.thanks for the feedback.

and nows its up to almost 40k its been in for its 50k service?

i cant imagine how they'd find that confusing

Unfortunate, but it is a lesson learned. Ours just go in for an 'oil change' or an 'inspection service', the service booklet gets left on the dashboard, and the garage has always (up to now) chosen the correct service...

my car gets done there every year,so they should at least check the records, its not rocket science.ok i should off check it myself before paying i now know that.Surely a quick check on there computer would of helped, and i did state it was in for its 50k service on the day.

I fully agree with you, dealer's service areas tend to take the line that they are the people best "equipped to keep your car in top condition at a modest price, what they did, if you had given the correct answers to any questions asked when you booked the car in and the service booklet was where it should be in the car, was either total incompetance or sharp practice!

Oh, and you have just discovered that by being loyal and using the same dealer every time - goes for nothing!!

If you do more than 10k a year then you have 10k,20k,30k etc services but if you dont then you have annual inspections instead. You were due a 5th annual inspection service rather than a 50k which is only a lube service and brake check.

They shoud have checked the previous service to be fair though

Went back today for a long chat. They offered me my next service (60k) for £150.00.They also offered me 15% off my 70k because they could not find my performance filter. If i change the car for a new "SKODA" from them, they would carry the discounts over,so either way they do not lose out.So i accepted the offer.I just do not know if it was the right thing to do.Its left me with a sour taste in my mouth after the experience.I felt in a way they tried to blame me for the **** up,thats the feeling i got anyway even though i did say 50k when it went in.Well time for a few cans and a chill.
