SDI Timing belt

Featured Replies

I am about to change the timing belt and water pump on my 2001 1.9sdi. And was wondering if any one knows the best way to do it and also where the timing marks are.

Thanks

Camshaft and pump are locked with tools.

Crankshaft markings are on the flywheel viewed through a hole in the top of the bell housing.

Tensioner has a mark on it that lines up when tension is right

Dynamic timing needs to be checked with diagnostic equipment after the belt is changed.

The old belt is loose and needs to be changed, are there any ways to ensure alinement is correct?

What can i use to lock the Cam and Pump?

OK belt changed, all marks are sorted but the diesel timing is off..... What is the best way to cure this? Used the marks that are on it and locked it in place, Is NOW running but lacks power will this be cured by doing Dynamic timing with vag-com? :D

Also While we're on the subject.... Any one with VAG-COM fancy doing run down to Pembrey (South Wales) to do Dynamic timing For few beer tokens or a bottle of wine? ;)

Thanks

Alan
