Performance or rather the lack of it.

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

My Octy vrs is feeling lazy this week! It had a major service at a specialist a few weeks ago and the performance difference was amazing, best it had ever been... However since the weekend it's much slower. More noticeably accelerating between 2000 and 4000 rpm. Seems to have lost allot of urgency.

I can here/feel the turbo from 2k rpm but the surge of power is much less potant! I should add that I let a friend borrow it for half an hour on Saturday, I do trust him but I am worried she may have been subject to abuse. :( Probably paranoid though!

I want to check a few things out this weekend, collapsed/leaking pipes. If an N75 valve is not too dear I will try that also... Has anyone got any other ideas? She is an 05 Mk1 with 118K miles on the clock. ;)

MAF is always a good one too check out

Unplug it and see if it runs better, if it does its goosed.

Thanks for the quick reply... I will unplug it before I drive home from work, will I do any harm running it unplugged for 10 miles?

Interesting friend you have there

I would suggest MAF as a starting point though.

I just read my origional post ...:rofl:, got images of my octy abusing my friend... Lol.

Mine sometimes feels better after I have been driving it hard, a couple of days of driving it like a granny and it seems to adapt to the driving style and is slow to pick up.

It's also noticeably faster just after filling up with a full tank of fuel, and just before the tank runs out

Is it me or turbo cars moody!! I kind of miss my 2.6 V6 Vauxhall sometimes.

I filled up at texaco the other day and it was shortly after that I noticed the lack of power. hmmm.

Seems to be happiest on VPower at the moment!

Yep mine is the same mate, but always feels bit better on v-power.

Thanks for the tips guys. Will have a play this weekend. I have a boost tester, I bought it a while back when it was mentioned on another thread but never used it. I will start a new thread to see if anyone knows how to use it correctly.

Cheers
