Anyone used one of these before?

Seems pretty straightforward. I would be a bit concerned about where to fit it though. It suggests fitting it straight on to the inlet side of the turbo but on the vRS that is a pain is the a$$ to get to (just ask anyone that's fitted an aftermarket TIP), ideally you would just remove the airbox and MAF and fit it to the end of the turbo inlet pipe, but you have various pipes coming off of the turbo inlet pipe which probably shouldnt be pressurised...i.e. the only part of the turbo pipework you want to pressurise is the part between the turbo and inlet manifold.

In the demo photos they've obviously got it on a car where the inlet side of the turbo is really easy to get to.

I've got one and used it attached to the TIP in place of the MAF. Worked really well, just a complete pain using a bicycle pump to get the pressure up! Will use an electric pump if I have to do it again (car foot pump wasn't long enough to reach).

Sorry for being a dumb *** but what the TIP? The MAF is the airflow meter right?:dopey:

how much pressure did you use?

I have an air compressor so no need to work up a sweat with a bike pump, I.m just slightly concerned I might damage one of the connecting hoses comming off the inlet pipe.

Thanks for your help.

TIP= turbo intake pipe. This is inbetween the maf and the turbo. Just find the airbox, connected to it is the maf, connected to the maf is the TIP. Only takes a minute to undo it all. The pressure was 7-8psi IIRC.

Ok, I had a go with the boostpro tester today but didnt get far as I need a reducer to fit the device to the TIP. Anyway, while I was tinkering I tried a few other things. Unplugged the MAF, didnt make any difference appart from the ESP light comming on (is that normal?). I also cleaned the MAF while I was there. On a test drive I payed attention to when the power was dropping off. In second it pulls from 2krpm fine and can here the turbo whistling away then at 3krpm the noise lulls and so does the boost, then comes back just after 3.5krpm but not as strong. Its much the same in 3rd but a little lower in rpm. Seems to go ok after 4krpm. I also had a go in my brothers Passat turbo (150), the drop in power/boost did not happen although its not as fast. His turbo was much quieter too, and more of a whine than a whistle. The turbo on the VW is a K03 not a K03S, could this explaine the difference?Any suggestions are much appritiated. In the mean time I will sort out a reducer for the boostpro and get her plugged into a vag-com. Thanks ;-)

Hi all

Just a quick update incase there are others with these boost/performance problems. My fuel light came on yesterday so I made my way to my local Shell station, I filled up with there standard fuel as I have a fuel car and my company wont let me use premium fuel , this morning it seems to be much better, no noticable flat spots between 3k and 4krpm and I have the ESP light flashing at me and torque steer is back!! :D

Will keep you posted, if it was just a bad tank of fuel i'd be quite supprised as I dont by fuel from super markets normally Texaco or sometimes BP. Think I might go out my way to the Shell garage from now on!
